Created by the composer’s son Sam Arlen and George Bugatti, the show is produced by Yellow Brick Productions in association with Edmund Gaynes, Jerry Rosenberg, and Shea Arender. The Wonderful Wizard of Song opened in New York on December 17, 2012 at The St. Lukes Theatre and ran thru May 25, 2014. It is written by George Bugatti and directed and choreographed by Broadway veteran Gene Castle with additional staging by Josh Iacovelli. This long running Off-Broadway hit, The Wonderful Wizard of Song is a jukebox musical filled with the iconic and nostalgic hits of OZ composer Harold Arlen including; “That Old Black Magic”, “World on a String”, “One For My Baby”, “Let’s Fall in Love”, “Stormy Weather”, “The Man That Got Away”, “Get Happy”, “Paper Moon”, “Somewhere Over The Rainbow”… and many others!
Starring The 3 Crooners and a Diva, the show gives the audience a peek into the composer’s life as The Crooners guide them through the musical vignettes traveling from The Cotton Club to the screens of Hollywood to the Broadway stage and to the Land of Oz!
In January 2016, The Wonderful Wizard of Song made its cabaret debut in the U.K. at the Crazy Coqs theater in London, U.K.
